Ancient paths on the hill

This walk starts at lake level at Carmine Inferiore, following the ancient path as far as the medieval hamlet of Carmine Superiore. Along this route one finds the ruins of old houses and the old Roman road, plus terraces used for cultivation of crops. At a view point one can look down upon the Cannero castles, ruins on two tiny islands of rock. Return to Cannero to explore this village beside the lake. It is possible to return to the Borromean Gulf by boat.
